Course details

This module of two hours will set the framing of the capacity building with high-level speakers and give an overview of the upcoming three modules.

The main aim is to show what strategic approaches to reconstruction are and how they could be integrated into municipalities' work – especially in spatial planning and development in the post-war situation. Why is this something to care about now? Why one cannot rely on "readymade" decisions and has to adopt existing experience? How can the values of sustainability, inclusiveness and aesthetics can guide and help a successful reconstruction in Ukraine?

Target audience

The target audience of this module is teams from small, medium and large municipalities in Ukraine.As this module is there to raise awareness for the topic and the capacity building programme, it is also addressed towards different stakeholders such as students, engineers, architects, politicians and European and international partners all interested in the rebuilding of Ukraine.

Learning objectives

After this introductory course, you will be able to: 

          • Recognize the different elements that are needed for strategic reconstruction 
          • Assess if this course would be of interest to your municipality
